Jessie J Struggling To Hear Or Walk As She Battles With Meniere’s Disease
29 Dec 2020
Jessie J revealed she was diagnosed with the debilitating Meniere’s disease forcing her to be hospitalised on Christmas Eve. The singer who lives in Los Angeles went to seek medical treatment after the inner ear condition caused her to struggle to hear, sing and walk in a straight line. Meniere’s disease can result in permanent hearing loss if left untreated, with around 45,000 people diagnosed each year in the US alone.
Jessie revealed: “I woke up and felt like I was completely deaf in my right ear, couldn’t walk in a straight line.
“Basically I got told I had Meniere’s syndrome. I know that a lot of people suffer from it and I’ve actually had a lot of people reach out to me and give me great advice, so I’ve just been laying low in silence.
“Now’s the first time I’ve been able to sing and bear it.
“I just miss singing so much and being around anyone.”
Taking precautions Jessie enjoyed her Christmas Day by “Watching Queens Gambit with my finger in my ear”.
