Fans of tropical soft drink Lilt were left in shock when parent company Coca Cola announced they were scrapping the iconic beverage.

Launched in 1975, Lilt became a household name in the UK but from today (Feb 14) it will now be known as Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit.

New Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit 330ml cans, 500ml bottles and two-litre bottles.

For those worried about whether the change in branding will also affect the taste, Coca-Cola assured that they will use the same formula when it becomes Fanta

“Our main priority with this announcement is to reassure Lilt’s loyal fan base that absolutely nothing has changed when it comes to the iconic taste of the drink they know and love,” Fanta brand manager Charlotte Walsham said.

“It’s still bursting with tangy tropical flavours. It’s just got itself a new name.”
