For his biggest festival performance to date, acclaimed artist and poet Loyle Carner stepped onto the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2025 wearing more than just an outfit, he wore a story.

The centerpiece of his look: a one-of-one, 50-year old green zip-up hoodie from the personal archive of Maurizio Donadi, Creative Director at Champion Europe. A personal gift to Loyle, handpicked by the artist himself, this garment embodies not only a shared creative vision but a deep emotional resonance.

Loyle said, “I’ve got a lot of love and respect for Maurizio and Champion for understanding the beauty and importance of time. Showing that things don’t always have to be brand new, important to love the things you have and look after them.”

Speaking on the significance of the piece, Maurizio Donadi, Creative Director Champion Europe, shared:

“The word ‘vintage’ has become diluted — too often detached from the true value of age and craftsmanship. However, the natural ‘vintage look’ we  all are attracted to is simply the unique patina on the item, which had deteriorated after heavy usage. The distressing and fading become synonymous with uniqueness; a special description for what is in effect, what we truly love about used clothing. That special aesthetic given by age is magnetic. In Japan, it’s called wabi-sabi: beauty in imperfection.”

Donadi continues, “Loyle’s green Champion hoodie embodies that. It’s worn, sun-faded, and repaired by hand. A continuation of someone’s journey, now carried forward by Loyle, whose own art is ever evolving. The cut-off sleeves are pure poetry. Champion as we all live in, and love about.
