Man Accused Of Keeping Dead Body In Freezer For Two Years & Using The Deceased’s Bank Card

A UK man has been accused of defrauding a pensioner who’s body he kept in his freezer for almost two years. 

Damion Johnson, 52, allegedly used the bank card of John Wainwright, who passed aged 71 in 2018, to withdraw cash and pay for goods.

Johnson was charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body, fraud in that he transferred money from Mr Wainwright’s bank accounting to his own as well as two more fraud charges.

The offences are alleged to have taken place when Johnson and Mr Wainwright lived at a flat in Cleveland Tower, Holywell Head, in Birmingham city centre.

Johnson will appear at Derby Crown Court, where he is expected to enter his pleas, next month.
