Lionel Messi finally broke his international trophy drought as Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the 2021 Copa America final.

Mobbed by his team-mates at full time the pint-sized Argentine claimed glory with country in his 10th major tournament.

In typical Messi fashion, the out of contract superstar picked up both top scorer and player of the tournament of awards on his way to ending Argentina’s 28-year wait to win the competition.

The game itself was a hotly contested battle as is stanadard procedure for a meeting between Argentina and Brazil, this time however played out in front of a small crowd of 7,000 invited guests, courtesy of Covid-19 restrictions.

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the game, a sublime chipped effort in the first half which proved to be the singular moment of attacking flair in the match.
