Monkeys have reportedly killed as many as 250 dogs in one Indian district, by dragging them to the top of buildings and trees and then throwing them to their deaths.

The murderous primates in the villages of Majalgaon and nearby Lavul in Maharashtra’s Beed district are thought to be carrying out the killings as acts of “revenge”, after a pack of dogs killed one of the monkey’s babies.

According to India’s News18 website, “not a single pup” is left in Lavul.

The monkeys vendetta has not been restricted to just man’s best friend, with residents in the villages reportedly living in fear, as some of them have also come under attack.

One of the incidents reported involves an 8-year-old child being dragged away by monkeys, then saved by villagers who threw stones at the primates and managed to scare them off.

After being contacted, officials at the forest department failed to catch even one of the primates, leaving the residents to fend for themselves.
