For those of you who have had a terrible time trying to cop shoes on Nikes SNKRS app there might be a new explanation for your “bad luck”. Nike announced on Monday that Ann Hebert, the Vice President and General Manager of its North America division has left the company after more than 25 years of service.
The unexpected news follows a Bloomberg Businessweek article last week about Ann’s 19-year-old son, Joe which revealed he was a sneaker reseller. Beyond the moral implications of the son of a Nike executive reselling their shoes the report also revealed he had used a credit card in Ann’s name to purchase sneakers for his resell business, West Coast Streetwear.
A reported $132,000 was used on the card to purchase highly coveted shoes and flip them for a profit. A Nike spokesperson told Bloomberg that Ann had disclosed information about the business to her employer in 2018 and there was “no violation of company policy.”
Joe also maintained that his mother’s role was far removed from what his business claiming to have never benefited from any insider information or his ties to Nike.
