9 match days in and the stories of this unusual Premier League season have just started to take shape. The Jose Mourinho renaissance is in full swing, as Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Hueng Min Son and Giovanni Lo Celso. Spurs’ title credentials are becoming more and more convincing as they and an injury hit Liverpool are the only teams displaying any real form of consistency.

Liverpool themselves won comfortably beating Leicester 3-0 even with the core of their title winning side in Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Mo Salah and Alexander-Arnold out with health issues. Arsenal again struggled, and were lucky to leave Leeds with a point as their invisible attack become 1 man lighter when £72million signing Nicolas Pepe received a straight red card for a “head butt”.

The surprise package of this season Everton, also got back to winning ways as they defeated Fulham 3-2 thanks to the in form Dominic Calvert Lewin. Fulham took the lead, but were beat back 3-1 before the 1st half ended. Scott Parker’s men did fight back however and made the last 20 minutes uneasy for Everton missing a penalty, before getting their second goal.

Results: Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea, Aston Villa 1-2 Brighton, Tottenham 2-0 Man City, Man Utd 1-0 West Brom, Fulham 2-3 Everton, Sheffield United 0-1 West Ham, Leeds United 0-0 Arsenal, Liverpool 3-0 Leicester, Burnley 1-0 Crystal Palace, Wolves 1-1 Southampton
