Rapman and Rio Ferdinand have been selected for the Queen’s birthday honours list this year.

Filmmaker Rapman has been made an MBE, for his services to drama and music.

Speaking on the award, Rapman said: “It really makes me feel like everything I’ve done has hit a target and it’s rising and rising, and to me it’s only the beginning – it’s only the start.”

Former Manchester United player Ferdinand will receive an OBE for his activism and charity work, while fellow footballers Gareth Bale and Liverpool midfielder James Milner get MBEs.

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “This historic Platinum Jubilee is not only a celebration of the monarch but of the qualities she possesses. The honors she confers this week reflect many of those qualities that have been invaluable from all different walks of life and to communities across the U.K. I pay tribute to all of this year’s winners. Their stories of courage and compassion are an inspiration to us all.”
