Sony is reportedly working on a portable handheld game console codenamed “Q-lite”.

Despite the yearning for a successor to the beloved PSP, consumers should temper expectations with “Q-lite” reportedly relying on remote play letting you play PlayStation 5 games away from home rather than being a standalone device like a Nintendo switch.

The Q Lite will require an internet connection to function and sync up with the PS5 to support 1080p and 60 FPS streaming.

According to Insider Gaming, “Early prototypes show the console will look a lot like a PlayStation 5 controller, but with a massive 8-inch LCD touchscreen in the centre”.

With rumours suggesting Sony are eyeing up a holiday 2024 release for the PlayStation 5 Pro, “Q-lite” could feasibly release sometime before that.
