Spotify is testing a new feature called ‘Discover’ which lets users scroll through a feed of vertical videos similar to TikTok.

Spotify’s rebuttal to new boy in town TikTok, the streaming service hope to reclaim their spot as the go to music discovery app by allowing users to skip and like the short videos.

It’s been suggested that ‘Discover’ will build upon Spotify’s pre-existing ‘Canvas’ feature. Artists can create videos to go along with songs, instead of still images. In some instances the videos may appear on certain songs instead of the standard album art when you play a video. They can also be in the form of standard video and mixed media, along with 2D and 3D formats.

“At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience,” a company spokesperson told TechCrunch. “Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We don’t have any further news to share at this time.”
