Tim Westwood has stepped down from his Capital Xtra radio show “until further notice” after sexual misconduct claims.

The stations parent company, Global, made the move following the release of Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power, a joint investigation into the DJ’s alleged transgressions by the Guardian and BBC News.

The former BBC Radio 1 DJ was accused by seven women of misusing his position in the music industry to take advantage of them.

Global said in a statement, “Following the claims that have recently come to light, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show until further notice.”

In response to the allegations Westwood’s representatives said, “Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour. In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”
