Trump Officially Pardons Kodak Black and Lil Wayne
20 Jan 2021
In his final major act as POTUS, Donald Trump has given rappers Kodak Black & Lil Wayne presidential pardons. It was rumoured that a move like this was on the card but for Kodak who has been in jail since 2019, and Wayne who was facing federal gun charges it must come as a huge relief.
Kodak has been seeking Trumps help for a while, just in November he offered to donate $1 million to charity if Trump would pardon him before leaving the White House.
Bradford Cohen, who represents both Kodak and Wayne, confirmed the pardons in a statement given to XXL saying: “President Trump and his administration have been tireless advocates on behalf of the African-American community. These pardons is a perfect example of this administration following up on its reforms and commitments. Thank you to President Trump for his advocacy and dedication to justice reform.”
Trump gave a pardon to Steve Bannon a key strategist and adviser to the President during his 2016 campaign. Bannon in August last year was charged with fraud over a fundraising campaign to build a wall on the US-Mexico border.
He also pardoned Anthony Levandowski a former Google employ who stole secret technology related to the company’s self-driving cars and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick who was sentenced to 28 years for racketeering, bribery and extortion.
