Twitter Have Permanently Banned Donald Trump
9 Jan 2021
We know Trump is one for the dramatics but it seems he is hell-bent on leaving the White House in a blaze of glory. After inciting a violent siege of the Capitol through Twitter, number 45 has now been suspended permanently from the platform. Some people have called it a ban on free speech and censorship of the right, but Twitter gave its reasoning.
“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said.
“If it is clear that another account is being used for the purposes of evading a ban, it is also subject to suspension.” Twitter did say however, if Trump tries to use official government accounts like @POTUS that they won’t be suspended but they will take action to limit their use.
The tweets that seem to have cost Trump his account were: “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”
Followed by: “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”
You might be thinking, well Trump will just take his army of followers and go to another platform like Parler but even they are feeling the pressure. Apple has given them 24 hours to regulate their platform or face removal from the App Store after it received complaints about the app being used to organise the storming of the nations Capitol. It’s seems more than ever that there is a real effort to de-platform the Donald.
