World Athletics To Introduce Mandatory Sex Testing For Female Competitions
25 Mar 2025
World Athletics have announced they will introduce mandatory testing for anyone entering female competitions to verify their biological sex, in what they say is a move taken to protect women’s sport.
After a World Athletics Council meeting today, Lord Coe said they could adopt non-invasive cheek swab tests of dry blood tests that only have to be carried out once on an athlete.
The tests would be used to verify if someone has transitioned to a female after going through male puberty or if they had differences of sex development that provided testosterone advantages.
