Ye Issues Statement After Wireless Festival Backlash
7 Apr 2026
Following a host of backlash from both political powers and Wireless sponsors, Ye has issued a statement regarding the controversy of his three day headlining of the festival.
Since the announcement of the Chicago rapper as headliner, Pepsi, Paypal, Rockstar Energy, and other sponsors have withdrawn from the event. On top of this, both London Mayor Sadiq Khan and British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have also expressed their concerns around Ye’s previous anti-semitic views, which he apologised for earlier this year in the Wall Street Journal.
Ye has now added to this apology, stating:
“I’ve been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly. My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music. I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen. I know words aren’t enough – I’ll have to show my words through actions. If you’re open, I’m here.
With love,
Ye (Formerly known as Kanye West”
This statement follows on from last night, where Festival Republic Managing Director Melvin Benn issued a statement doubling down on his support for Ye, asking the public for ‘forgiveness’. At this stage it seems that one of the most controversial artists of the 21st century will get his opportunity to perform in London, however there is no doubting the criticism that Wireless has opened itself up for.
