A fresh face in the UK scene, Cikho has come through with his latest single, ‘Crush on You’. The track has been accompanied by a retro visualiser shot by Original Concrete Club.
The south-east London artist brings a vibrancy to his music, with infectious vocals and a fine ear for melody. His influences include Thundercat, Steve Lacy, and Pharell.
Speaking on the new release, Cikho states:
“Crush On You is about having the biggest crush on someone, from experiencing feelings such as butterflies to also overthinking and being scared to tell the person how you feel. It’s all part of the thrill, sometimes the best part.”
On his south-east London upbringing, he added:
“Most people don’t know about Surrey Quays, it’s very low-key, but that’s what I love about it – everyone’s just really nice, it’s a really nice area, but no one was doing what I liked in terms of music. I didn’t have that person to look up to from this area that gave me hope. And so when I started to make music, I wanted to become that person.”
