UK rap riser DC3 has come through with his latest single, ‘Kunta In UK’. The track has been accompanied by a provocative visual featuring Stormzy and shot by Ade “Adelight” Adesina.
The Northampton rapper is enjoying a sensational start to his career, becoming first independent Christian artist to win both Best Gospel Act and Best Newcomer at the MOBOs. DC3 is set to be a force to be reckoned with for some time.
Speaking on the single and the visual, the artist states:
“KUNTA IN UK is a song that signifies how we all have different colours yet bleed the same. It touches on my upbringing in the UK and how I got through challenges throughout my childhood. I wanted to tell that story in a way that felt honest, while also reminding people that our shared humanity is always greater than the things that divide us.
Filming the video was one of the most challenging but rewarding shoots I’ve ever been part of. Every scene was intentional, and we wanted the visuals to be just as thought-provoking as the lyrics. The concept came from God, a vision I had of telling my own experiences of race through a cinematic lens. I wanted to create something that would start conversations, challenge perspectives and encourage people to think more deeply about identity, history and empathy.
Having Stormzy involved was a real honour. An inspiration to me. He understood the heart behind what I aimed to create, and his contribution lifted up the message and impact of the record.”
