The rising British musician, Kay Youngs, has announced her forthcoming EP Middle Matters and released the visuals to Going Through.
Going Through opens introspectively with Kay’s gentle words to her late Grandmother, accompanied by the David Hockney inspired aesthetic. Speaking on the sophomore record and the filming process, Kay says “We really wanted to amplify the layers and colours within the song. Dylan Hayes had the idea to incorporate David Hockney style montages which did just that. I fell in love with the song even more through filming the video.”
Accurately mirroring our present times, both in an uncomfortable period of change but with much hope on the horizon, Kay Young’s announcement of her label debut EP is aptly titled Middle Matters. Reflecting on the naming of her EP, Kay Young reveals, “I’m no longer where I used to be and I’m not yet where I want to be yet. I’m in the middle which is uncomfortable but also where you do the most growing. ‘Middle Matters’ is simply me growing through the pain.”
