PK Unveils The Visuals To ‘Yosho’ – Taken From His ‘Bad Ombre’ EP
20 Feb 2018
Referred to as one of Grime’s young superheroes’ due to his position in the crew YGG, PK has just dropped the first single ‘Yosho’ taken from his debut solo EP Bad Ombre.
The Camden MC, who’s usually found spitting alongside Lyrical Strally and Saint P steps out in to the spotlight to lick down 4 tracks of undisturbed, unrivalled 140 and Yosho is the first to get the radio and visual treatment. Premiering as DJ Target’s ‘Targo Embargo’, PK spoke live on BBC Radio 1Xtra to announce the release, introduce the record and discuss how the solo project had been in high demand from fans, before the tune jumped in to play and rattle through slick bars and infectious energy from the man himself.
Whilst PK and his comrades have confidently risen to the position of one of the most prominent crews in modern day grime via their explosive singles and radio sets, for the release of Bad Ombre, he joins forces with one of grime’s founders and most respected crew members, Flowdan.
Part of the Jungle scene and pirate radio generation, Flowdan has himself been prominent in grimes most historic and successful collectives including Pay As U Go Cartel and Roll Deep. His vast career, understanding and knowledge has awarded him with the wisdom to develop his own artist development and record label, Spentshell, which makes a weighty label debut with PK’s release:
“I’ve been in the grime scene since before it had a name and with it being part of my fabric, it felt like exactly the right time to develop my own label. I have developed Spentshell to be the go to grime music label, staying authentic to the essence of grime while developing new talent and nurturing it alongside more established grime artists, providing opportunities for collaborations that wouldn’t otherwise exist. PK’s EP is a perfect example of what the label is out to achieve and it’s been amazing to work alongside him with this, not only does Bad Ombre highlight just a snippet of the unlimited energy and character that he brings to the grime table, but it’s also allowed me to bring my own experience on board to help him achieve such a solid body of work.
We have some amazing new projects in the pipeline from artists including GhstlyXXVII as well as creating bodies of work featuring multiple collaborations specifically to highlight what we do at the label so you’ll be hearing a lot about us over the coming months.”
