En route to the coveted #1 spot, who could’ve predicted that Fireboy DML’s infectious summer sizzler would resonate with so many – especially British singing sensation, Ed Sheeran?!

Already topping the UK Afrobeats chart, the Nigerian artist’s global “Peru” hit was already the go-to song of 2021. Panning from our favourite TikTok videos to DJs replaying the viral record multiple times, by popular demand, the world fell in love with Fireboy’s alté rhythm.

“Not only is this an exciting moment for me, but also for Afrobeats. I hope this is the first of many collaborations with Ed and other artists around the globe, and I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy this song during the holidays.” – Fireboy DML

The single’s undeniable impact caught the attention of 4x Grammy-winning Ed Sheeran, who warmed up our winter with the surprise “Peru” remix of last December. The collaboration saw Ed introduce a Western pop vibe to the tune which is already an overlap of afro-dancehall and alté. What’s more is that the pair brought their seamless chemistry to the screen when meeting and shooting the light-hearted visuals in West London!

Now releasing an acoustic rendition of the smash hit, Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran are set to secure the #1 position for their joint single this Friday as streaming numbers are multiplying in their millions.
